Echinacea Root (Echinacea purpurea)

Commonly known as purple coneflower, Echinacea purpurea is named for its distinctive spiny seed head, with the genus name derived from the Greek echinos, meaning "hedgehog." One of nine species native to North America, E. purpurea is the most widely cultivated and has been treasured in Indigenous healing traditions and Western herbalism for generations.

While the entire plant has been used traditionally, the root has long been valued for supporting the body's natural defenses and overall wellness. Today, echinacea remains one of the most extensively researched and widely used herbs for immune support. Dried echinacea root is commonly prepared as a decoction, tincture, or incorporated into herbal wellness blends, pairing especially well with calendula, Oregon grape, and yellow dock.
