Mimosa Tree Bark (Albizia julibrissin)

Albizia julibrissin, commonly known as the silk tree, is a flowering member of the Fabaceae (legume) family native to Asia. Introduced to the United States in 1745 as an ornamental tree, it is admired for its fragrant pink blossoms. Because its seeds disperse easily and tolerate drought, the tree has become naturalized and, in some regions, invasive throughout the southern United States.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), mimosa tree is known as the "Happiness Tree" and has long been valued for its calming, nervine qualities and its traditional use in supporting emotional well-being. The bark is commonly prepared as a tea, tincture, or powdered capsule, and has traditionally been enjoyed in the evening to encourage relaxation and restful sleep.

Mimosa tree bark is also incorporated into topical herbal preparations, including serums, creams, and botanical skin care formulations, where it has traditionally been used to soothe and support irritated skin.
