Tulsi Holy Basil RAMA
Tulsi Holy Basil RAMA
Rama Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum)
Rama tulsi is the most widely cultivated variety of holy basil in India and has been revered in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. A member of the mint family (Lamiaceae) and a close relative of sweet basil, Ocimum tenuiflorum features purple stems with vibrant green leaves and is prized for its mild, balanced flavor. The aromatic leaves are commonly prepared as tulsi tea, blended into herbal infusions, or incorporated into traditional wellness formulas.
Known throughout India as the "mother medicine of nature," holy basil is regarded as one of Ayurveda's most important herbs and holds deep spiritual significance in Hindu tradition. Many households traditionally cultivate a tulsi plant near the home as a symbol of protection and devotion. Its fragrant leaves carry notes of peppermint, clove, licorice, and citrus. Among the four primary tulsi varieties: Rama, Krishna, Kapoor, and Vana...Rama is especially appreciated for its smooth, mellow taste and versatility.
Traditionally enjoyed as an herbal tea or mixed with ghee, Rama tulsi remains one of the most cherished botanicals in both Ayurvedic practice and daily wellness rituals.
